devFU was formed in 2009 after Andrew's time with Rio Tinto Coal Australia. Having worked as a contractor previously with several large companies, Andrew returned to the challenge of running his own consultancy firm.
Since that time devFU has demonstrated an ability to deliver projects, resulting solid growth for the company and now has several permanent employees working from offices in the Newcastle CBD.
Our clients are primarily based in the Hunter Valley and range from large mining companies, to small family businesses. Our experience across a variety of sized projects allows us to scale our offerings to the specific project requirements.
Andrew Whalan runs devFU day to day as well as providing his technical expertise to all major projects. Andrew has been working in the mining industry since he graduated from a Bachelor of Computer Science degree in 2002. Since this time Andrew has returned for further studies and finished a double degree in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering late 2011.
With his broad range of knowledge, Andrew has demonstrated his technical ability during his time working as a risk management consultant with HMS Consultants and during his time in a technical systems role with Rio Tinto Coal Australia.
Andrew has continued to deliver solutions that provide high value outcomes for our clients.
Greg Miller is devFU's Commerical Manager and tends to both the company's financial position and the general administration of the company. Having Greg working at devFU allows the other employees to concentrate on providing the best solutions to our client base.
Having previously worked in accounting firms for three and a half years, Greg has extensive experience with many different types of businesses, including assisting his parents in managing their two bakeries.
Away from devFU, Greg enjoys travelling, trying new restaurants and watching sport.
Adam provides his software engineering expertise to a variety of projects across devFU. Having graduated amongst the top of his class in Games Technology from Murdoch University with an existing Diploma in Software Engineering, he provides knowledge in a variety of programming languages and a high degree of skill in software design. Having a Certificate IV in Workplace Training he is comfortable leading a team or getting deep into the core of projects.
Adam has proven himself in designing and implementing client requests as a lead programmer for product development, interacting with clients and providing project requirements on schedule.
Al Notara is a software developer for devFU who is currently completing his final year of a Bachelor of Information Technology, majoring in Software Development and Applications. Al is enjoying being involved in all aspects and processes of software development, from initial gathering client requirements through to the highly rewarding feeling of delivering a finished product.
Coming from an IT background, Al has always been around computers, and is taking every opportunity to further develop his skills in industry and the programming world.
Outside of work hours, Al can be found underneath his '73 Toyota Celica, spanner in hand, tweaking and restoring his car.
Yvan Martin is a software developer for devFU who joined the team in July 2011. He is completing off his IT qualifications and is majoring in Software Development and Applications. Yvan enjoys learning and adapting to new systems, technologies and programming languages. He also has a fascination for understanding the overall structures and design of complex systems.
Through his passion for developing business applications, Yvan takes pride in delivering solutions that fulfill the technical needs of a business.
Daniel has worked across several DevFU projects as a software developer since joining the team in August 2011. He continues to develop his professional skills in consultation, system and requirements analysis, and conceptual design.
He has worked with several technologies such as including PHP, MySQL, and .NET C#. He has also done small projects utilising Java and C/C++.
